Building Rapport LLC ("Rapport", "we", "us") operates this civic reporting platform. This policy describes what we collect, why, and your rights.

Information we collect

• Account info: email address, display name, and optional avatar URL when you create an account.
• Reports you submit: category, location (typed and optional precise lat/lng), photos and descriptions, and the town you assign the report to.
• Messages: conversations between reporters and town staff regarding a report.
• Usage data: standard server logs (IP, timestamp, request path) retained for security and abuse prevention.

How we use it

• To route reports to the correct town and department.
• To let you and town staff communicate about a report and track its status.
• To prevent abuse, spam, and false reporting.
• To send transactional emails (account verification, status changes you've subscribed to).

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for advertising.

Public information

Reports are part of a public civic record. The category, location, status, and (unless you submit anonymously) your display name may be visible to other residents and town staff. Do not include sensitive personal information in report details.

Sharing

• Town officials: staff assigned to a town can see all reports in that town.
• Service providers: our hosting and email infrastructure providers process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
• Legal: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.

Retention

Account data is kept while your account is active. Reports are retained indefinitely as part of the public civic record. You may request deletion of your account; the reports you submitted will remain but will be disassociated from your identity.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete personal data we hold about you. Email us to exercise these rights.

Children

Rapport is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes

We'll update the "Last updated" date when this policy changes materially. Continued use means you accept the update.
